Famous iPhone kernel hacker Comex has teased the arrival of JailbreakMe. The developer has updated JailbreakMe.com website with an image of snow and skating place with a PDF signboard on the tree. We can not say anything for sure as right now its just a teaser. Hopefully it will be the iPad 2 jailbreak.
iPhone dev Comex’s JailbreakMe tool, which worked on an userland exploit, was used to jailbreak iOS 4.0/4.0.1. Jailbreaking with it simply involved sliding the “slide to jailbreak” bar and Comex’s tool did the rest. This was in contrast to other traditional tools which involve plenty of steps. The exploit was later patched in iOS 4.0.2.
Let's get into some details. iPhone dev Comex updated the website for JailbreakMe. The updated page, according to Comex himself, is simply a tease. The webpage shows this image:
The photo shows a signboard which says 'PDF' along with ski slope and diamond icon. We guess this is pointing towards a potential PDF-based exploit. The question is: which iOS device(s) and iOS version could this be for? It would be a good bet to say this isn’t for jailbreaking iOS 4.3.3 since that is already covered.
Considering that all other iDevices have been jailbroken successfully already, with various tools out there, we would assume that JailbreakMe points to the iPad 2 jailbreak. After all that’s the last Apple stand when it comes to its fight against hackers, not including the iPhone 4 unlocking battle, which Apple has been winning almost since the launch of the device back in June 2010.
